Lakshmi Reddy Bloom - Founder and Director
Lakshmi Bloom has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of survey design and analysis, human resource information systems, and microcomputer modeling. She specializes in the collection, assessment and processing of quantitative and qualitative data for policy analysis, executive decision-making and employment-related litigation. Her particular expertise lies in her ability to bridge the divide between data and decision-making, something that she credits to the analytical and yet pragmatic and policy-oriented training she received at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School. Lakshmi relies on this expertise in her work at DfD, communicating the results of complex economic and statistical models in a manner that enables clients to understand and use them for strategic decision making. In addition to her labor and employment related work, Lakshmi works in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health, River Path Associates and the World Economic Forum on public policy research and has co-authored a number of articles on the relationship between business and communicable disease threats.

Rebecca Demsetz — Economist
Rebecca Demsetz earned a Ph.D in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she specialized in labor economics and industrial organization. She has extensive experience in policy analysis and in the communication of technical concepts and tools to varied audiences, thanks to the years she spent as an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. At the Fed, Rebecca acquired considerable knowledge of the financial services industry. She is an excellent applied economist, a supremely careful data analyst, and a terrific writer.

Joe Grimaldo — Forensic Accountant
Joe Grimaldo, has been a partner with the Massachusetts accounting firm of O’Connor Maloney and Company for over 25 years. He has a broad range of accounting experience, including business valuation, tax return preparation on the individual and corporate level, audit work, estate planning and forecasting for corporate finance transactions. His particular area of expertise for DfD is forensic accounting, critical to DfD's work in the areas of economic valuation and economic damages. Joe brings the highest level of accounting acumen to his work, but also brings a deep understanding of individuals and their relationship to earning, spending and saving, garnered from his quarter century of interactions with accounting clients. His knowledge and ability base, coupled with his excellent communication skills, make Joe an invaluable member of the DfD team.

David Kantor — Senior Systems Analyst
David Kantor has over 20 years experience in programming and systems analysis. He specializes in Stata programming, is an active member of the Stata User’s Group and has developed numerous proprietary programs in Stata. He also has extensive experience working with US Census Data and Current Population Survey Data, both in the context of research and economic valuation. With advanced degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, David brings tremendous attention to detail and the highest level of accuracy to DfD’s computer programming and database construction.

JP Sevilla — Economist
Jaypee earned a Ph.D in Economics from Harvard University. Public finance and applied econometrics were two of his main areas of concentration. Jaypee subsequently spent seven years on the faculty of the Harvard School of Public Health, followed by two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Law School. Jaypee has outstanding technical skills in mathematical modeling and econometrics, which he combines with a remarkable capacity to understand complex problems and to frame them in an analytically tractable manner. He has considerable experience analyzing data and getting it to confess its secrets.

Younghwan Song — Economist
Younghwan Song, is an Associate Professor of Economics at Union College. Younghwan received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, where he trained and wrote his thesis in labor economics. With ongoing research, and a number of publications and working papers in topics surrounding the US labor market, Younghwan brings a vital understanding of US labor and employment issues to the DfD team. He also has econometric and statistical expertise that is invaluable to DfD’s work on survey design and analysis, as well as to the analyses performed in the context of discrimination lawsuits and proactive employment studies.
